I’m a 17 year old from Nova Scotia, Canada, passionate about advancing quantum technologies and building meaningful solutions. Currently, I'm exploring quantum algorithms and their applications in real-world problems, and leading impactful social organizations.

Why Quantum?

🔬 My passion for applied physics began at a satellite engineering camp, where the challenge of building simple systems for harsh space conditions captured my imagination. I was drawn to the idea that physics could not only explain the universe through theory but actively shape it. During my exploration, I found myself captivated by quantum mechanics; its rules felt almost alien yet held incredible promise because they weren’t completely understood by anyone. Questions kept me up at night: How can particles exist in multiple states simultaneously? Why do quantum simulations collapse under certain conditions? Could quantum computers model complex systems without simplifications? The deeper I read, the more I understood how fundamental these questions are to solving the world's most pressing challenges. From optimizing global logistics to designing new materials and accelerating scientific discovery, quantum computing emerged as a field that perfectly combines theoretical beauty with real-world impact. I became fascinated with understanding its principles and possibilities, knowing I wanted to be part of its future.

Projects I’ve Done

Quantum Error Correction

• I first got interested in quantum computing through its promise of outperforming classical systems, but quickly realized that quantum error correction was the key to unlocking that potential. I wrote an article exploring how fragile qubits are and why maintaining coherence is so difficult, which led me to a deep dive into the mechanics of quantum error correction and its role in achieving quantum supremacy. In the article, I walk through the challenges of quantum decoherence, how error correction codes like Shor and surface codes work, and why they’re essential for scaling quantum systems to solve real-world problems.

Quantum Monte Carlo Simulations

• Later, I studied the sign problem as one of the main obstructions that make quantum Monte Carlo simulations really inefficient, especially when trying to study complex quantum systems. I wrote a paper exploring how unitary transformations—special kinds of rotations—can help reduce this problem and make simulations run more smoothly. In the paper, I explain a new method that looks at the structure of a system and tweaks it just enough to avoid the issues that normally slow things down. This could make it much easier to simulate certain quantum systems that were previously too difficult to handle.

Quantum Efficiency

• Having worked with simulations, I became interested in other applications of quantum theory in computing. Through this, I investigated how quantum computing could improve search algorithms, especially for unsorted data where classical methods are inefficient. I wrote a paper comparing Grover’s quantum search algorithm to traditional classical search techniques, focusing on how each scales with larger datasets. In the paper, I explain how Grover’s algorithm leverages quantum principles to search more efficiently, potentially offering significant speedups over classical approaches. This comparison helps highlight where quantum computing could make a real difference in practical applications.
